Sometimes the television can serve the science ! To all who don't know the rules of « Who wants to be a millionaire ? », the candidates have to answer to questions with a gradual difficulty. They stay while they correctly answer and can stop at any time, in order to save money if they are not confident.
Researchers of the Belfast's university have studied the English game and the behaviour of 515 people. They noted that one third of the candidates have left the game after they lost because of a mistake, losing profits whereas two thirds have retired in front of a difficult question. That could show that for many people, the fear of losing too much is stronger than the attract of a big profit. So, the fear of risk could prevent from try the chance.
